Entries for the Regional Press Awards
for 2017

The awards recognise the work of local and regional newspapers in print and online. Reporters and photographers working for agencies are also eligible to enter work published by a local and regional newspaper between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2017.

Entries can be made for work published in print, website, online, mobile, video, audio or any other delivery format including social media and blogs, in any UK local or regional newspaper or its related digital platforms.

To start an entry you will first need to register with the website. Once you have been sent a password you can log in and submit your entry or entries.

All entries need to be submitted between 7 February 2018 and 8 March 2018 using the online system.

Entries must be approved by the editor or managing editor and freelance entries should be endorsed by the editor or managing editor or departmental head of the paper that published entries.

Please read through the guidance carefully before you begin to submit entries.

 PLEASE NOTE

  • Complete the online entry form carefully for EACH entry you submit.
  • All electronic files must be in accordance with online guidelines and should not exceed 5 MB.
  • All entries must be made with the approval of an editor, managing editor or department head. 
  • All entries should include a note for information of any outstanding legal issues or complaints to the Independent Press Standards Organisation regarding the entry.
  • Newspapers can authorise and submit multiple entries in multiple categories.
  • Payment will be required for each entry and can be made using a secure online payment system, or by requesting an invoice.
  • Entries will NOT be returned and the entry fee is non-refundable.
  • Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant/team and declared as such.
  • Entrants for the Young Journalist of the Year must be aged under 26 on 31 December 2017.
  • NOTE! - If you are an administrator making entries on behalf of several journalists please ensure you register as an administrator then register each journalist separately before submitting any entries - and ensure you upload a photograph of each journalist.
